As the holiday season continues on, so do the festivities. These might include alcohol, which can make the party seem like a lot more fun. However, the fun might stop as soon as you opt to get behind the wheel of a vehicle after you have had a few drinks. If you have been drinking and see the flashing lights of a police vehicle behind your car, your heart might drop.

There are various things that happen quickly when you are pulled over for the suspicion of drunk driving. In our previous blog post, we discussed the horizontal gaze nystagmus test and how that is used to determine if a driver is impaired. If you recall, we discussed how that test is often subjective. Oftentimes, we can call these test results into question as we work on your defense.

We know that you are probably ready to get your case moved through the criminal justice system. While that is understandable, it is something that isn’t always advisable. Instead, let us take the time we need to look into your case. This lets us get to work on a defense strategy that isn’t rushed.

There are different aspects of the case being presented against you that we might be able to call into question. How long was it between the traffic stop and when your official blood alcohol concentration was determined? Why did the officer pull you over? These are only two sample questions that we must consider when we are working on a DUI defense.

As your case moves through the court system, be sure to think about each option that is presented to you. In some cases, you might find that a pretrial diversion program or plea deal is an option that you are willing to live with.
